Rooted in the left bank of the Gironde, Château Beychevelle spreads over 250 hectares, of which 90 hectares are planted with vines. The rest of the estate, made up of grasslands grazed by Limousin cattle, alongside pine, ash, poplar and walnut forests, form a living ecosystem teeming with biodiversity. In the heart of the Saint-Julien appellation, this mosaic of soils and landscapes offers a remarkable natural setting in which to craft grands vins.

The terroir reveals itself in all its ways.
A harmony patiently cultivated, nurtured by daily attention to the vines and their environment.
Nestled in the immediate vicinity of the Gironde, visible from the château’s front steps, the estuary plays a vital role as a natural guardian of harmony. It tempers the extremes of temperature, preserves delicate balances, and gently accompanies the slow, patient ripening of the grapes. In an era shaped by shifting climates, this breath of air rising from the estuary remains a precious ally.
At the heart of the vineyard lie two plateaus of deep Garonne gravel, formed during the Pleistocene period.
These lean, well-drained soils — a subtle blend of pebbles and sand — offer the ideal foundation for the purest expression of the Médoc’s emblematic grape varieties. They encourage deep-rooted vines and a natural balance of water, nurturing the elegance, finesse, and complexity that define the wines of Château Beychevelle.

Precision viticulture
With an average age of 38 years, the Château Beychevelle vines are planted at high densities — between 8,300 and 10,000 vines per hectare — fostering a more precise and concentrated expression of the fruit. This widespread root system allows the vine to draw on the soil’s resources and to withstand droughts.
The vineyard consists of three noble grape varieties of the Médoc region: 57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot and 3% Petit Verdot.
At Château Beychevelle, every parcel is observed with meticulous care.
The cultivation of each vine and every vineyard practice is adapted to the unique nature of its soil — a bespoke approach devoted to crafting wines of distinctive identity.

Engagements
